(NIDAHASA News) Kurunegala, a mojor city of Sri Lanka have banned the internet cafes for children.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Kurunegala district, Vass Gunawardhana has imposed a ban on underage children logging to the internet via internet cafes.

The internet cafe owners of the city have been strictly instructed not to allow the children under 18, reports said.

According to new regulation if students needs to log into the internet via a cafe, they must produce a letter from the principal of the school or carry their parents along with them.

Sri Lanka recently banned over 800 porn website claiming that those site could be accessed by the children.

Vass Gunawardhana was a SSP of Colombo Criminal Division and has been charged for abducted and assaulting a private university student. Later he was transferred to Kurunegala division.
