Sri Lanka Enters ICC Finals Beating New Zealand

(NIDAHASA News) Sri Lanka today (29) qualified for the ICC world cup finals beating New Zealand by five wickets in the first World Cup semi final played at the R. Premadasa stadium.

Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 73 while Captain Kumar Sangakkara scored 54. Tim Southee picked up three wickets for 57.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost all of their wickets in 48.5 overs and scored 217 runs.

Sri Lanka reached the winning target of 218 runs with 13 balls remaining.

India and Pakistan play their semi final tomorrow at Mohali to stand a chance to meet Sri Lanka in the World Cup final in Mumbai on April 2.
